Raise the BARriers: Securing Caroline Springs with Style

Ace Contractors (also known as Ace Infrastructure) is based in Melbourne and is a civil construction company that has been operating throughout southeastern Australia since 1971.

Performing work on a diverse range of projects in many industries, such as industrial, commercial, health, education, defence, and community infrastructure, they pride themselves on the motto, "ACE makes it happen!" Ace Contractors sought an installation of Barrier Group's customised bollards to ensure the citizens of Caroline Springs could dine outdoors and navigate the footpath securely from the busy road beside them.

This case study details how we worked with Ace Contractors Group to enhance outdoor dining safety for the Caroline Springs community, utilising Barrier Group's comprehensive traffic management solutions.

The Problem

Caroline Springs, a thriving community 21 km west of Melbourne's Central Business District (CBD) in the City of Melton, has embraced Melbourne's growing outdoor dining culture . Situated on Caroline Springs' Commercial Strip (on Caroline Springs Boulevard), Ace Contractors approached Barrier Group to provide protective measures for the kerbside dining area, ensuring a safe separation between heavy vehicle traffic and pedestrians and diners.

The Solution

In consultation with Ace Contractors Group, we developed a plan to ensure the citizens of Caroline Springs could dine out feeling safe and secure. To execute our plan, we installed a mix of 47 galvanised powder-coated in-ground and surface-mounted bollards along a 67-metre-long stretch of road. The bollards were customised to Ace Contractors' specifications, including a Steel Pearl Satin colour finish, adding both functionality and style to the outdoor dining area.

The Challenges

Before starting the installation, one of the primary challenges was site access. Caroline Springs Boulevard is one of the busiest roads in the City of Melton , which required communication between the Ace Contractors, their client, and Barrier Group to sort out an installation date, combined with a Traffic Control Company who would be onsite while the installation was taking place. Due to traffic restrictions, the installation had to be executed within a tight timeframe, ensuring minimal disruption to the surrounding area.

Despite these constraints, we successfully completed the installation of the custom bollards, meeting the needs of both Ace Contractors Group and the local Caroline Springs community.

Client Response

The successful installation of Barrier Group's customised bollards has significantly improved safety for outdoor diners in Caroline Springs, providing peace of mind to pedestrians and diners alike. The bollards now act as an effective barrier, separating the busy road from the dining area without compromising aesthetics. The project was completed on time and has contributed to the vibrant outdoor culture of Caroline Springs, reinforcing Ace Contractors Group’s reputation for delivering high-quality infrastructure projects while ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
