Safeguarding a new chapter for a Leading Public Health Logistics Company
A procurement and logistics supply chain in the public health sector. Their role is to ensure health services receive the essential products they need to provide patient care. With a commitment to getting "the right product to the right place at the right time", this organization launched a new distribution centre. Their focus is to improve customer and patient outcomes.
This case study shows how this public sector logistics company had safety covered at their new warehousing facility with Barrier Group's traffic management and line marking safety solutions.

The Problem
When this organisation engaged with Barrier Group, they were in the midst of opening a new distribution centre in Dandenong to better serve their south-east Melbourne customers.
They aimed to duplicate their previous success after when we installed safety products at their other warehouse facility.
Strict laws and regulations regarding warehouse safety presented a significant opportunity for this organisation's new warehouse facility.
This would guarantee that their safety measures were put into place promptly, providing them with an optimal beginning as their warehouse starts functioning, with traffic management being a crucial aspect.
The Solution
We put an emphasis on providing a comprehensive traffic management system designed to minimize the risk of accidents in a high-traffic warehouse environment. The key element of this plan was the installation of Heavy-Duty W-Beam Guardrails to effectively separate forklifts from pedestrian walkways, a solution that had proven effective at this organisation's other warehouse facility.
Next, we applied line marking to create safe zones. A particular focus was the creation driver safety zones which are required by warehouses through laws and legislation. This allows for the delivery driver safety zones, which are required by warehouse safety laws, allowing delivery drivers to monitor their cargo while it is unloaded. This not only ensured compliance with regulations but also enhanced overall operational efficiency and safety.
Additionally, we also installed signage, shock-absorbing bollards, no-weld handrails, and Column Cushions for additional protection.
The Challenges
After initial discussions, it became apparent that we were going to have some challenges that required quick thinking and adaptability:
Tight Timeline: The new facility was set to begin operations in just a few weeks, necessitating the swift installation of all safety measures.
Line Marking Coordination: The line marking had to be completed before the warehouse was stocked with inventory, adding pressure to complete the work in a timely manner.
Staffing Issues: A key line marking specialist fell ill shortly before the scheduled work, forcing the team to adjust plans and resources to stay on track.
Miscommunication: Some areas of the warehouse required adjustments to the line markings due to minor miscommunication during the initial planning phase.
Supply Delays: A vital component for the installation of the ball-fence swing gate was delayed, further complicating the already tight timeline. Everyone's worse nightmare.
Despite these obstacles, Barrier Group successfully collaborated with this public health logistics company, leveraging problem-solving skills and a strong team effort to meet the project deadline and deliver a safe, functional warehouse environment.
Client Response
Through teamwork and a shared commitment to safety, Barrier Group delivered essential safety solutions for the organisation's new Dandenong distribution centre. The installation of W-Beam Guardrails, combined with strategically placed line markings and compliance with driver safety zone regulations, created a safer, more efficient workspace. These solutions not only met regulatory standards but also ensured that the facility could operate smoothly from day one.
As this organisation continues to expand its logistics capabilities, Barrier Group is proud to be a trusted partner, supporting their mission of delivering vital healthcare products and services while ensuring a safe working environment and operational efficiency.
