The Problem

Little Creatures Geelong, a working brewery and hospitality venue, faced a significant safety challenge: cars and the public were entering restricted areas, including operating and truck zones. The need for separation between public areas and operational zones was critical to ensure the safety of visitors and staff. This unauthorised access not only posed a risk of accidents but also disrupted the brewery’s operations. The primary goal was to prevent unauthorised entry and maintain a safe environment for everyone on the premises.

The Solution

To address this issue, Barrier Group implemented a strategic solution by installing gates and bollards. These barriers effectively blocked unauthorised access to the restricted areas while still allowing entry when necessary. The gates were positioned to prevent cars and pedestrians from entering unsafe zones, ensuring that only authorised personnel could access these critical areas. The key feature of this solution was its flexibility—while the barriers prevented unwanted access, they could easily be opened when required, providing controlled access as needed. This approach not only enhanced safety but also maintained operational efficiency.

The Challenges

One of the challenges encountered during the project was ensuring the receiver bollard was the correct height. Initially, the bollard installed was not tall enough to meet the requirements. To resolve this, Barrier Group returned to the site with our installation team to assess the situation and determine the appropriate size for the receiver bollard. Little Creatures Geelong was very cooperative during this process, and necessary adjustments were able to be made.

Little Creatures Geelong was pleased with the proposed solution and agreed to proceed immediately. After the project was completed, they expressed their satisfaction, noting that the installation had effectively eliminated the issue of unauthorised access. The client was particularly relieved that the safety concerns regarding public entry into restricted areas were fully addressed. Since the implementation, there have been no reported safety breaches, and the barriers continue to serve their purpose effectively.

Ongoing Partnership:

Barrier Group and Little Creatures Brewery have maintained a robust and collaborative partnership that has proven beneficial for both entities. In late 2024, this relationship was further solidified through a series of projects to enhance safety and accessibility within the brewery's premises.

During this time, Little Creatures Brewery utilised Barrier Group's Linemarking Service. The main goal was to create a new pedestrian walkway. This walkway was carefully designed to keep pedestrians safe in busy areas around the brewery. It lets them move freely and securely without accidents.

Along with the walkway, the Barrier Group Linemarking Specialists also installed a new centre line. This line helps mark lanes and guide vehicles. It reduces the chance of collisions and improves traffic flow. They also added directional arrows to give clear guidance to drivers. This helps drivers navigate the area with confidence.
