The Problem
A fall arrest solution was required for a large, open docking bay for Kent Relocation Group. Eight docking bays were located in a row, and consecutive safety gates were needed to prevent falls from the edge of the dock.
The Solution
After consultation with our on-site team, it was decided that multiple Dock Safe Boom Gates would be the best solution for this specific site. With its sizeable 5-metre opening and spring assisted boom, Dock Safe Boom Gate would provide the ideal fall prevention solution for the Kent Relocations site, while providing optimal opening widths.
The Challenges
As the docking bays were quite close to each other, it was decided to install the gates "in tandem" forming an unbroken line along the front of the dock. Usually, each Dock Safe Boom Gate is supplied with a receiver post; however, installing a receiver post next to each neighbouring gate post would have given a cumbersome and untidy result. The solution was to custom manufacture a bracket which, when installed on the adjacent gate post, enabled us to attach a wall receiver for each gate boom. This way, we were able to provide eight consecutive Dock Safe Boom Gates in a seamless line resulting in economical, gap-free safety for Kent Relocation Group's dock.
Client Response
The customer was delighted with the quick turn around and the custom solution that resulted in the safe operation of the loading dock.
