Australian Standards Line Marking
Australian Standard AS 1742.2:2009 defines the road line markings, road signage, traffic devices, and traffic control for Australian public roads. However, there is significant variance in road agency practice with respect to line marking types, widths and other pavement markings around Australia.
Accordingly, the last couple of years have seen the development of the Harmonisation of Pavement Markings and National Pavement Marking Specification by Austroads, a group of Australian and New Zealand transport agencies representing all levels of government, which is intended to help harmonise requirements around Australia and improve consistency between jurisdictions.
In addition to the Australian Standards, there are often common and widely implemented practices for the clear display of vehicle lines in carparks, public parking areas, and factories and warehouses.
