What is an aircraft wheel chock?
Aircraft wheel chocks are devices that are placed under the wheels of an aircraft to prevent it from moving. They are often used when an aircraft is parked on a runway or taxiway, or when it is being towed.
Wheel chocks are typically made of durable moulded rubber, and they are placed in front of and behind the aircraft's wheels. They generally consist of two rubber chocks linked with a sturdy rope in between for ease of carrying them and to ensure they stay together as a pair.
