Pace Physiotherapy

Pace Physiotherapy

Pace Physiotherapy is a well-known Geelong physiotherapy clinic established by Director and Lead Physiotherapist Nathan Wilson in 2007. The team of Pace Physiotherapy practitioners are committed to ongoing improvement in their practice, their professional education and clinical skills to ensure their clients receive the latest treatments available. The clinic offers a variety of services including; TMJ (jaw treatment), Dry Needling, Massage and general Physiotherapy needs, the team at Pace are equipped and readily available to service the health and wellbeing of Geelong and its surrounding communities.

The Problem

Due to the continued expansion of its client base, and the need for a larger establishment to practice from, Pace Physiotherapy began the move to a new location in East Geelong in 2023. This location would be able to offer more treatment rooms, increasing the number of available appointments, and offer access to a large on-site car park for clients to utilise while at the clinic. Converting a Grade 1A Residential Property to a Commercial Class 5 Building meant that all building requirements and car park requirements must adhere to current Australian Standards and be signed off by a registered building surveyor before operations could commence.

The Solution

Pace Physiotherapy engaged the services of Barrier Group wanting not only to utilise another local Geelong business, but to seek expert advice on creating a disabled car park space, installing wheel stops and non-slip tactile pads, and mapping out Linemarking all within accordance of Australian safety standards.

The Challenges

One of the main challenges associated with the car park lay out was the location of the disabled car space and its mandatory safety bollard. The main point of entry to the Pace Physiotherapy car park was a fence and gate that was potentially going to hinder the full access required for the disabled car park. Initial planning indicated that the desired swing gate would need to be reconsidered and a sliding gate installed instead. This would unfortunately reduce the overall longevity of the gate and incur excess cost due to the mechanics involved. Consultation with Barrier Group, via a site visit to measure the site and consider all available options, eventuated into the swing gate being kept as the preferred choice and enough leeway between bollard and gate was successfully obtained.

Client Response

“Aaron from the Barrier Group team was incredibly approachable and professional in dealing with the concerns we had. He was able to come on site and measure up the car park and liaise with the builder we also had on site. It was a team effort in discussing what the obstacles were, how we were going to meet the required standards and ultimately get approval from the building surveyor. The process was quick and efficient, and Aaron and I kept in communication throughout. I was impressed with how quickly I received responses, and I was kept in the loop as to when the Barrier Group Installation team would be onsite, and the installation undertaken. The overall impression was very positive and one that I commended and thanked and Aaron and Barrier Group for.”
