If I have a galvanised only bollard, and I use stainless steel ring kits, does this have some effect (chemical) to gal and s/s material ?
Short answer
YES! If galvanised and stainless steel properties are in direct contact and in the presence of an electrolyte (water), galvanic corrosion will occur if they are regularly exposed to an electrolyte. .
Long answer
Galvanic corrosion will happens on galv ONLY in the right condition (for example: WET). It is always a good idea to separate or insulate them. You could apply some coating on the stainless steel thread to minimize the direct contact. Or use a plastic sleeve or some sort to form a barrier between them. But in the bollard case, because the galvanised portion in the product is way larger than stainless steel, it may not be a problem after all.
